April marks the beginning of STI Awareness Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness about sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and promoting regular testing as a crucial aspect of sexual health. Here at the Lenawee County Health Department, we are committed to providing accessible and confidential STI testing and treatment services to our community.

Why STI Awareness Matters

Sexually transmitted infections affect millions of individuals worldwide, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation. Unfortunately, many STIs can go undetected due to a lack of symptoms, leading to potential long-term health complications and increased risk of transmission to others. That's why education and proactive testing are essential in combating the spread of STIs and safeguarding individual and public health.

Our Services

At the Lenawee County Health Department, we offer comprehensive STI testing and treatment services on Thursdays by appointment. Our dedicated team provides confidential testing for a range of sexually transmitted infections, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, trichomoniasis, hepatitis C, and HIV. Additionally, we offer counseling, referrals, and partner treatment to ensure that individuals receive the support and care they need.

What to Expect

When you visit our clinic for STI testing, you can expect a supportive and non-judgmental environment. Before receiving treatment, you will have the opportunity to speak with our experienced STI nurse, who will discuss your risk factors for STIs and provide personalized guidance on reducing future risk. Your privacy and confidentiality are our top priorities, and all testing and counseling sessions are conducted with the utmost discretion.

Clinic Hours and Cost

Our STI testing clinic operates on Tuesdays and Thursdays with appointments available from 8 am to 11 am and 1 pm to 3 pm. While a fee may be charged for testing and/or treatment, we strive to keep our services affordable and accessible to all members of the community. We accept various forms of payment and offer financial assistance options for those in need.

Get Tested, Stay Healthy

Whether you're sexually active or not, regular STI testing is an essential part of taking care of your health. By getting tested, you not only protect yourself but also contribute to the health and well-being of your partners and the community as a whole. Don't wait until symptoms appear – schedule your STI test today and take control of your sexual health.
