Tax Assistance
![]()
Trained volunteers assist older adults with completing Federal and State Income Tax forms and Michigan Property Tax and Home Heating credits. If an older adult or representative is unable to come to the center, a volunteer can come to the home. Appointments can be made by contacting the Department on Aging office or your local center during tax season.
Beginning February 1, 2009, you may call the Department on Aging to schedule an appointment for assistance with Federal and State Income Tax forms or with tax credits. Those who need assistance with Property Tax or Home Heating credits only can check with their local senior center to schedule an appointment. Adults under 60 years old should contact the Community Action Agency at 517-263-7861 for assistance.
No fee is charged for this service, however contributions are encouraged so that services may be extended to others in need. The Lenawee Department on Aging is a non-profit organization. Consideration for memorial contributions is much appreciated. Our mission is To provide quality services that enable persons who are age 60 and over to live independently with dignity.
